Airport Dimensions Opens The Club GRR, Gerald R. Ford International Airport’s First-Ever Lounge
New lounge offers a premium retreat with local design inspiration, expansive views, and dedicated zones for work and relaxation for all GRR travellers. This milestone brings a long-awaited premium amenity to West Michigan travellers and marks a significant upgrade to GRR’s guest experience.
Airport Dimensions, the company behind the design, build, and operation of market-leading airport lounge brand, ‘The Club,’ proudly announces the opening of The Club GRR, the first and only shared-use airport lounge at Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR). This launch marks a significant enhancement to the passenger journey in West Michigan, providing a much-anticipated space for comfort and productivity.
Located in the newly expanded Concourse A, between Gates A3 and A5, The Club GRR offers a serene 3,428-square-foot oasis with seating for 66 guests. The opening is a direct response to the airport's significant passenger growth – surpassing 2M enplaned (4.17m total) passengers in 2024, their highest volumes in the history of the airport – and is a key feature of the recent $110 million Concourse A expansion. As GRR's capacity increases, The Club provides a much-needed premium amenity to serve the growing number of travellers and elevate their journey. The lounge’s sophisticated, understated design is rooted in Grand Rapids' rich legacy as a pioneer of creative modern industry and innovation, reflecting the sleek architecture of the new terminal expansion.
“The opening of The Club GRR is a pivotal moment for us and for travellers in Grand Rapids,” said Nancy Knipp, President Americas at Airport Dimensions. “Being the sole lounge provider at Gerald R. Ford International Airport allows us to offer a truly elevated and accessible premium experience to every passenger. We’ve created a space that celebrates the city’s innovative spirit and warm hospitality, incorporating local craftsmanship, and design details that reflect the region’s story. We’re thrilled to bring a world-class lounge experience to GRR passengers for the first time.”
The lounge experience begins at the concourse level with a welcoming Concierge, before an elegant elevator and sculptural stairway lead guests upstairs. There, travellers step into a striking, light-filled lounge defined by its dramatic curved layout and floor-to-ceiling glass walls, offering sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
In a nod to West Michigan’s rich heritage, the space features iconic MillerKnoll furniture that honors the region’s 100+ year legacy in manufacturing. The lounge also features a curated art program showcasing local Grand Rapids artists through photography installations that capture the city's vibrant life and landmarks. Notable pieces include "Motorcade," depicting a presidential motorcade as tribute to President Gerald R. Ford, and a miniature replica of Cyril Lixenberg's "Steel Waters," mirroring the iconic sculpture found in downtown Grand Rapids.
The commitment to community extends beyond design through partnerships with vital local organizations like The Community Food Club. A $10,000 donation supports their innovative approach to food security, providing members with dignified access to healthy, affordable food. To ensure an inclusive experience for all guests, the lounge is also equipped with a hearing loop system, which transmits public address announcements directly to telecoil (T-coil)-equipped hearing devices for clear and accessible communication.
Amenities are intuitively zoned for every type of traveller, featuring a variety of community areas for guests as they prepare for their next journey. For quieter moments, plush high-back chairs provide a sense of calm and privacy, while wood-framed alcoves create intimate pockets for relaxation. Or, for those needing to work, a linear productivity desk lines the glass wall. The overall lounge experience is complemented with a thoughtfully curated menu of light bites and beverages designed to satisfy a range of tastes.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of The Club GRR, an exciting new addition that offers guests an elevated space to relax and recharge,” said Tory Richardson, president and CEO of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority. “We’re incredibly grateful to our partners at Airport Dimensions for bringing this lounge to life as we continue our commitment to delivering a world-class guest experience to travellers from West Michigan and beyond.”
The lounge is accessible to members of Priority Pass and LoungeKey. All travellers passing through GRR can also enjoy this premium experience by purchasing a day pass online at theclubairportlounges.com or at the lounge entrance for $50.
